Continuing our series of discussions with presidential candidates, the Eastern Europe Studies Centre hosted presidential candidate Aurelijus Veryga, who shared his foreign policy and national security priorities with experts and media representatives.
Sharing his vision of Lithuania’s foreign policy, the candidate stressed that Lithuania as a small country needs to build friendly relations and have serious partners. Lithuania needs to be a predictable state and its foreign policy positions need to be based on objectivity and caution as this will leave room for cooperation.
Discussing Ukraine’s prospects for EU membership, the candidate stressed that Ukraine would add value to the EU and would be a support for Europe as a whole.
The discussion also touched on Taiwan’s representation, universal conscription and the assessment of threats emanating from Russia.
